Swindon Borough Council are appealing for foster carers in Swindon to provide safe and loving homes to local children in need.

The council are committed to supporting children to remain living in, or close to, Swindon when they are unable to stay living with their family members.

There are around 300 children and young people in the council's care in Swindon. This number is predicted to increase in the coming years.

The council's goal is to recruit a variety of foster carers, from all backgrounds, to provide a safe home, care and support for local children and young people who need it.

Sammy, one of the local children in foster care, recently gave a birthday card to his foster carer – inside, he’d written: "Living with you has made me more optimistic in my life. I’m now very confident that I’ll have a safe place to live with caring people.

"I’m glad I got you as a carer and I’m happy that I can always come to you for advice and support".

A council spokesperson said: "This shows the powerful impact our foster carers have on the lives of children and young people in Swindon."
