A man in his 50s was arrested early this afternoon following concerns from a member of the public about a person with a suspected handgun.
A Swindon Police spokesperson said: "He was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence after his vehicle was stopped on the A419 slip-road at Blunsdon at 12.45pm today.
"He is currently in police custody and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
"There were no reported injuries."
