A Swindon homeless charity has received a donation of £2,500 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in the town.
The donation went to Swindon Night Shelter, a charity providing support to the homeless and vulnerable in Swindon and the surrounding areas, and which offers emergency accommodation, shower and laundry facilities, access to computers and phones and meals.
To mark the donation, the Swindon Night Shelter team visited the Amazon fulfilment centre and hosted a market for employees, selling items to raise further funds.
The donation will go towards the day-to-day running of the charity’s day centre, which relies heavily on donations and tabletop sales to keep going.
David Tindal, general manager at Amazon in Swindon, said: “We’re pleased to support Swindon Night Shelter with this donation and enjoyed welcoming members of the charity to the fulfilment centre to host a market for our team members.
"We hope this donation, and the money raised at the market, provides a boost to the charity it continues its work across the town.”

"We appreciated being able to talk to people about our work in Swindon, raising greater awareness of the very real needs in our community.”
Community donations and employee volunteering are two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates.
Amazon has supported more than 500,000 students across the UK with free computer science and STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer.
Amazon also helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good, including more than seven million healthy breakfasts to children at risk of hunger in partnership with Magic Breakfast.
