A growing extracurricular dance programme working across Swindon and surrounding communities is helping children build confidence, resilience and leadership skills through structured weekly sessions.
MF Dance delivers street dance through a combination of its own community-based classes, alongside after-school clubs, assemblies and physical activity provision in partnership with schools, working across Swindon.
Across its wider UK programme, MF Dance supports over 1,000 children each week in over 50 locations, combining national reach with consistent local delivery.
The programme was developed 13 years ago alongside Matt Fiddes, known for his work as a former bodyguard to Michael Jackson, and is built around a structured Life Skills Framework focusing on confidence, discipline, teamwork and resilience.
Head of MF Dance, Tabitha Richardson, said: “Dance is just the vehicle. What we’re really focused on is helping children and young people build confidence, develop discipline and believe in themselves. We see the impact not just in classes but in how they carry themselves at school and in everyday life.”
Alongside weekly classes, students take part in monthly goal setting and follow a shared valued-based approach, encouraging positive habits, respect and personal responsibility.
Parents have also seen the difference. One parent Zoe Hooper shared: “MF has given both Evie and Isla the confidence, resilience and determination they need not just for dance, but for everything they face as they grow both at school and personally.”
Nationally, MF Dance delivers after-school clubs in approximately 10 schools per week and, through its wider programme, reaches over 30 schools weekly through additional physical activity sessions.
With increasing focus on supporting children and young people beyond academic outcomes, programmes like MF Dance are becoming an important part of community provision across Swindon.
Classes are held in Swindon every week Monday-Friday; bookings can be made through the website www.mfdance.co.uk
