“NEW short film classes for Arts Festival with a FREE short film workshop”

The Wootton Bassett Arts Festival is introducing a new short film class to its syllabus this year and to celebrate is holding a free workshop with award winning short film writer and director, David Hawk (pictured, right).

Short films up to six minutes in length can be entered in the Arts Festival in November. The films can be on any subject but must be original work. For more information and to download a syllabus and entry form visit www.wbaf.co.uk or pick up a copy from Brian Taylor Music Shop in Wootton Bassett.

The workshop, intended for people of all ages, will take place in Wootton Bassett Library on Saturday 6 August from 10.30am – 12.30pm. Topics up for discussion include film genres, the crew needed to produce a film and tips on how to create a story and characters. Places are limited to just 20 and are available on a first come first served basis by emailing wbaffilm@gmail.com, so act quickly to avoid disappointment.

Bristol based writer and director David Hawk studied at the London Academy of Film and TV and has been mentored by Mike Bullen (creator and writer of ITV’s Cold Feet). He has written and made his own films. His recent short film ‘Special Delivery’ won 'Best International Independent Short Film' at 2010 WorldFest Houston, 'Best International Short Film' at Philadelphia FirstGlance Film festival and Certificate of Excellence' 2010 SkyFest Online Film Festival. He has also produced videos for L'Oreal, TGI Friday's, Honda and Orange and worked on music videos for Roots Manuva, The Feeling and Lily Allen.

Short films entered in the Festival will compete for the Dreambase Studios Cup and the winners in each of the three age categories will be guaranteed a place in the Swindon heat of Wiltshire’s Preloader Festival 2012 (subject to eligibility). Preloader celebrates the work of young filmmakers and emerging creative talent in Wiltshire and Swindon. See www.mediahubbub.co.uk for more information.
