St Joseph’s Catholic College, on Ocotal Way in the heart of Swindon, has performed well in the new Key Stage 4 (KS4, ages 14-16) and Key Stage 5 (KS5, ages 16-18) league tables, released by the Department of Education.

The College has shown steady improvement, increasing the percentage of pupils achieving five or more A*- C GCSE grades (including Maths and English) by 7% in three years, from 48% in 2009 to 55% in 2011. The tables also show that of the 193 students at KS5 91% achieve two or more A levels or equivalent, with 73% achieving three or more. The College sees this as very much an upward trend.

The league tables show KS4 and KS5 exam results for all schools/colleges in England. In addition to performance indicators showing the achievement and progress of pupils at the end of KS4 and KS5, this year's performance tables also include data on school finance, pupil absence, school workforce and Ofsted judgements - allowing comparisons between schools across a wide range of indicators.

St Joseph’s Principal, Maureen Harries, says, “We are very proud of the College’s achievements and, whilst these league tables reflect some of the hard work put in by both staff and students, they show only part of the picture and do not wholly reflect the dedication shown by all at St Joseph’s in many different areas - academic, vocational and pastoral.”
