As the regular ice hockey season comes to a close, the Swindon Wildcats are getting ready for the playoffs.

The playoffs will feature the top eight teams from the regular season. These teams have fought hard to earn their spot, and now the real battle begins.

Group Stage: Once the top eight teams are determined, they will be divided into two groups: Group A and Group B. Here's how the teams will be allocated:

Group A: This group will consist of the teams finishing first, fourth, fifth and eighth in the league table.

Group B: Meanwhile, Group B will include the teams finishing second, third, sixth and seventh.

At this time Group A is expected to be Leeds Knights, Hull Seahawks Peterborough Phantoms and Bees IHC

Group B is expected to be MK Lightning, Swindon Wildcats, Telford Tigers and Raiders IHC.

Swindon Wildcats are expecting to be in group B and to take on MK during the playoffs group stages, this weekend’s game will be a great preview of what’s to come.

Each team will play against the other teams in their group at home and away over the course of three weekends. These matchups will be intense as every point counts towards securing a spot in the next stage.

Progression to Final 4: The top two teams from each group will advance to the Final 4 weekend, which is the pinnacle of the playoffs. This will take place in Coventry in front of fans from all teams in the league and hockey fans across the country, adding an extra layer of excitement and anticipation.

This Saturday sees the Swindon Wildcats play MK Lightning at 6.30pm at the Link Centre.
