Nationwide calendar girls make a date for Macmillan

Nationwide in Swindon unveiled its charity calendar for 2005, and it's a calendar with a difference!

It features eight of the directors' personal assistants who have decided to bare (nearly) all, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. Scenes include taking the minutes, filing, serving tea and coffee, football sponsorship and organising the Christmas party revealing more than they would normally at company meetings.

The calendar is available for a minimum donation of £5 - with every penny going to Macmillan. It is hoped that sales of the calendar will raise around £50,000, which could fund either a Macmillan nurse for a year, or over 130 Macmillan grants, or the Macmillan CancerLine for over 2 months.

Katja Rogers, one of the PAs, said: "The success of the original Calendar Girls inspired us to produce our own calendar for Macmillan. We are a diverse group, spanning an age range of three decades and several dress sizes, but what we have in common is the desire to raise money for Macmillan. It was very nerve racking having the photographs taken but we are all extremely pleased with the final results and with the fact that, in doing something a little out of the ordinary, we are able to help such a worthwhile cause."

Tim Hughes, Nationwide's head of external affairs, said: "The personal assistants have all shown great team spirit and a sense of fun and the calendar has been very tastefully produced. We are sure that the calendars will sell like the proverbial "hot-cakes" in the run-up to Christmas and raise a lot of money for Macmillan Cancer Relief."
