Brewers, the family-run decorators' merchant, is celebrating its 100th year this year by donating substantial sums to charity around the country.

In Swindon, Brewers has made a donation of £10,000 to Prospect Hospice, which was formed as a charity in 1980 and moved to its current location in 1995. The donation will be used to support the investment of a new IT/Telephone system.

David Line, General Manager of Prospect Hospice is thrilled at receiving this substantial grant. "We intend to dedicate this money towards our new IT/telephone system. Our telephone system has been in place since the present hospice opened almost ten years ago and no longer meets the needs of the organisation. At the same time, we have completed a strategic review of our IT systems. The combination of being able to upgrade both technologies will help this organisation to better meet the needs of patients and their families. This is a tremendous grant for Prospect which will help towards the upgrade costs and we are very grateful for Brewers support."

"The choice of Prospect Hospice to benefit from this grant was a natural one," says Chris Eveleigh, Branch Manager of Brewers Swindon, "as it builds on the existing, great relationship that we have with our local hospice and it is Brewers' way of saying thank you to the local community for all their support over the years."

A family run business, Brewers, whose Head office is based in Eastbourne, is the UK's largest independent supplier of decorating materials to the trade and retail with over 100 branches across the Southern half of England and nearly 1,000 staff. The Swindon branch is managed by Chris Eveleigh and is based in Wyndham Road on the Hawksworth Industrial Estate near the Oasis Leisure Centre. Prospect Hospice in Moormead Road, Wroughton, Swindon is the hospice coverning NE Wiltshire and provides Specialist Palliative Care Services for patients with Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease or HIV-AIDS and the support for those caring for them, with the focus on making each day count. The care and support Prospect provides both within the hospice and throughout the community is free of charge, but in 2004/5 it will cost over £3 million with the majority of the funds needed to be found from voluntary sources.
