£2m Taw Hill development opens new Co-op store

A new 2,620sq ft Co-op supermarket, built at a cost of around £270,000 opened at Taw Hill Village Centre on 15 June

The supermarket is part of a new commercial project, by Oxford, Swindon & Gloucester Co-op (OS&G Co-op) costing in excess of £2m. The development also includes six other retail units, eight residential apartments and car parking.

The new 'village' format Co-op supermarket offers a fresh new shopping experience in a bright, modern environment, all in a purpose built building. As part of the full range of convenience store shopping, the store sells a breads and caked baked fresh each day, a broad range of fresh foods and chilled and ready-meals, a fresh meat department and a new range of chilled and award winning wines.

Newspapers and magazines are also be on sale. The store also has a cashpoint machine and mobile 'phone 'top up' facilities.

New look fittings and fixtures include automatic doors giving improved access, wooden flooring, tills, air-conditioning and refrigeration and lighting. Ample parking is also available.

Store manager, Robin Hindle, who lives in West Swindon said, "I am really delighted with this fantastic new store. It's a big boost for this growing area and provides for the full range of convenience shopping. I'm sure that our new store, like many of our other stores owned and run by our member owned Society, will become a key center for the local community".

Fifteen jobs have been created at the new store. The store opening hours are 8am to 10pm everyday.
