Your County Needs You!

On Sunday 23 May, the Voluntary Emergency Services are coming together for a major recruitment event in Swindon - the second year an event of this kind has been held and it will prove a great afternoon out for the whole family.

The main organisations involved in this event are Wiltshire Special Constabulary, the Retained Fire Service, Red Cross, St John's Ambulance, WRVS and CasSim. All of these organisations are looking for more volunteers to assist them in their work and to enable them to fully represent the communities they serve.

The event takes place at the Link Centre in West Swindon, from 2pm to 5pm.

There will also be first aid demonstrations, fire safety demonstrations, a crowd management scenario and a demonstration of the techniques used in a difficult arrest. The police dog section may attend, dependent on operational commitments. The grand finale of the demonstrations will be a reconstruction of a major traffic collision highlighting the roles played by all the participating organisations.

There will be a number of static displays both outside and inside the Link Centre and the Black Thunder from GWR FM will also be there.

The Mayor of Swindon, Mr Derek Benfield, will be attending on the day. Everyone is welcome to come along and entrance is free to all.
