Swindon Archive News Are you crazy enough to walk on fire to help raise a cool £20K?
It's no joke; GWR FM and Age Concern Swindon are looking for teams to hot foot it to the wildest local fundraising event of the year - the first ever Swindon Fire Walk Challenge. It takes place outside Swindon's Town Hall Friday 23 April, 6pm - St George's Day. There will be live music and street entertainment to build up the excitement in anticipation of the eye watering spectacle of up to 100 people walking barefoot over hot coals. Jackie Kent, Trust Manager for GWR FM's Community Trust, says, "this is a fantastic opportunity to bring members of your staff, club or even a group of friends together to do something quite amazing for a local cause. "On the evening of the event, each team member will take part in a two hour fire walk training session which will provide them with physical and mental techniques to overcome their self-limiting beliefs and turn on their powers of self-control.
"This event is going to be spectacular, for the teams and companies taking
part, and the spectators. We only have room for 20 teams and several have
already signed up, including myself and the GWR FM morning crew, Matt & H
and Howard Taylor. Have you got what it takes?"
Jacquie Sheppard, fundraising manager for Age Concern Swindon, said, "This is a superb way to encourage local companies and groups of friends to raise money for an important local charity. "To show that 'age has no barriers', I'll be doing the event as part of the GWR FM's Team." Behind the stunt are firewalking specialists Blaze, who have successfully taken thousands of people through the ultimate mind over matter charity event since 1983. If this red hot challenge has fired-up your imagination, organise your team and call the registration hotline on 842600 or log onto www.musicradio.com |
