Skate week to end with indoor competition just before Christmas
Skaters will be getting together just before Christmas to show how much Swindon needs a permanent indoor skate and bike park. A Sk8 Awareness Week, from 17 to 19 December, in the Old Railway Museum in Faringdon Road, organised by the Swindon Community Sk8 Project will end with an 'Off The Rails' skate competition on Saturday 20 December. Photos, videos and artwork to illustrate local skate culture will be on display, as well as the ramps to be used during the competition. The day will involve practice sessions for skate boarders, inline skaters and BMX bikes as well as competitions. Entrance to the Awareness Week display is free, but there is a charge for Saturday 20 December: £7 in advance from Tower 12, Victoria Road, Old Town and Loco in the Brunel Centre. Tickets will be limited in number. There will be a £5 registration fee for those wishing to enter the competition, payable on the day.
