First family makes history in North Swindon

Swindon's newest housing area welcomed its first residents on 1 July, when Chris and Tracy Barnes and their two daughters Jessica and Natalie moved a mile and a half from St Andrew's Ridge in North Swindon to the Bloor Homes Saunders Brook development at Priory Vale.

Their nearest neighbours are nearly a mile away and being the only people living in Priory Vale is slightly spooky experience said Tracey. "Its exciting to move to a new house and be the first residents, but very strange to be surrounded by fields and building works. But its all changing so quickly here that we'll be welcoming others in no time."

The couple were moving to Spain earlier in the year, but when that plan fell through their itchy feet took them in the direction of Priory Vale where 5,500 houses will be built over the next eight years. Being in the building trade, Chris had worked as a sub-contractor for Bloor Homes and knew of their reputation.

The couple were impressed by the new range of three storey family homes. Chris and Tracey have purchased a spacious three bedroom Marlin which features a family room, kitchen and dining room on the ground floor, a lounge and master bedroom on the first level and two further bedrooms on the top floor.

The arrival of the Barnes family is also a celebration for Swindon based builders Bloor Homes. Saunder's Brook is the first housing development in the town for seven years. Sales Manager Lorraine Palmer, who herself lives in a Bloor house on St Andrew's Ridge, said there has been tremendous interest in the site. "Saunder's Brook is a super development and it came as no surprise when our first sales were off plan. We built Mr and Mrs Barnes' new home and our first show house at the same time. We're sure that they will be very happy there."
