Gardens open in West Swindon in aid of Breakthrough

Organisers Lesley Dredge and Denise Jones advertising the open gardens on the Moonwalk for Breakthrough Breast Cancer on 11 May

Keen gardeners in the Nine Elms area are throwing open their gardens on 15 and 16 June in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

About 25 gardens will be on display and there will be craft stalls, jam, chutney and plants to buy as well as cream teas on offer. A quiz for children is being prepared and there's the chance to win a father's day prize.

Co-organiser Denise Jones said she was amazed by how many people have joined in. "We thought a few residents' would like to open their gardens, but there's been fantastic interest. Our expectations have been going up and up; we're hoping a thousand people will visit over the weekend."

Programmes costing £2 will include a garden location map and will be on sale at the Nine Elms pub or at Stone Lane Garden Centre. Or pay at the gate - look out for balloons at open gardens.
