Wiltshire Chief Constable congratulates PCC on re-election

Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson has been congratulated by Chief Constable Catherine Roper on his re-election.

Conservative Mr Wilkinson secured 38,578 votes to be returned as PCC, with Labour's Stanka Adamcova securing 36,345, Liberal Democrat Alan Hagger 20,485 and independent candidate Mike Rees 29,035.
The Chief Constable said in a statement: “I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Philip Wilkinson on being re-elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the PCC and his team to deliver his Police and Crime Plan, and ensure that together we are ‘Keeping Wiltshire Safe’.”
Mr Wilkinson said his focus had been – and would continue to be - his support to Wiltshire Police as it continued its improvement journey and delivering upon his aim of Making Wiltshire Safer.
Mr Wilkinson pledged to continue to deliver on his election promises of a greater police visibility and commitment to protecting communities, a renewed emphasis on ridding communities of anti-social behaviour and an increased focus on rural and retail crime.
Mr Wilkinson, whose second term will last until 2028, said in a message to the public: “It is an absolute honour to continue as your Police and Crime Commissioner for the next four years.
“My promise remains the same – to be your voice in policing and to hold the Chief Constable to account for the effective and efficient police service that residents deserve - and Wiltshire Police are delivering under our outstanding Chief Constable.
“For me, this election has been about public service: security and protecting people is what I am dedicated to – and will continue to do for the residents of Wiltshire. This has never been about self-service.
“Now it is time for my office, and that of Wiltshire Police, to continue against our aim of Making Wiltshire Safer.”
