TWIGS back in action
Swindon's horticultural therapy project TWIGS is back in business and is now taking referrals, having moved to a new building at Moredon Gardens in Cheney Manor. The voluntary organisation provides rehabilitation opportunities through horticulture and craft activities for people who are experiencing emotional distress or mental ill health. People with mental health needs have to be referred to the project by a social worker or community support worker. TWIGS is also looking for volunteers with gardening and woodwork skills who are sensitive to the needs of the client group. "There's more to TWIGS than digging - there's a great community spirit here," said project worker Alan Holland. "Everyone is treated as a person not an illness." To find more about TWIGS, and to offer your services as a volunteer, call (01793) 523294. |
