Youngsters from Salt Way School learnt about life in Japan when wives of Honda employees visited the school recently. They tried their hand at calligraphy, origami and other arts and crafts, and also dressed up in traditional Japanese costumes.

"The visits by the Honda ladies were so instructive," said year 1 teacher Pauline Harrison. "The project was much better than expected; the children learnt so much.

On their last visit, the Honda wives were entertained by a performance of Momotaro the peach boy, with teachers dressed in kimonos. Megumi Yamamoto said the women in the group had a lot of skills to offer and enjoyed visiting schools in the Swindon area to work with children who are learning about other cultures.
