Prince Charles entertains magnificent walking women at Highgrove

Two women from Swindon will be amongst fifty who will stride into Prince Charles' country residence at Highgrove House wearing their bras on Monday 3 September.

The Prince is president of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and has invited representatives involved in the annual overnight moonwalk marathon through London for a lunchtime reception.

Eunice Salmon from Nine Elms and Ros Evans from Wrougton will be meeting the other women at Westonbirt Arboretum to strip off and walk the two miles to Highgrove.

"It's become a tradition for moonwalkers to decorate their bras. As the Prince is big in organic vegetables, for this very special event, we're going to dangle stuffed carrots and leeks," said Eunice. "It's a fantastic honour to be invited to Highgrove to meet him. I've no idea why we've been chosen; perhaps it's because Swindon has sent the largest groups of walkers in the last two years."

In May two hundred women and a few blokes from the town did the moonwalk and raised about £50,000 towards the £1 million raised on the night for Breakthrough and the Bristol Cancer Help Centre. In 2000, one hundred and five walked and raised £30,000.

Last year Ros, who has had treatment for breast cancer, raised £6,000 for the London walk then ran the New York marathon in November.

Eunice is unclear what the protocol will be once the women arrive at Highgrove. "I'm not sure if we will meet the Prince in our bras, but it will be an occasion to remember the women who have suffered from breast cancer and have lost their lives to it."
