Looking back through 'A Century of Swindon'
A new book looking back over the last one hundred years in the town was published in mid-October, and you can win one of two copies made available by WH Smith. Written by members of The Swindon Society and published in hardback at £14.99 by Sutton Publishing, the book is a fascinating insight into the events, people and places that have made Swindon the place it is today. The Swindon Society will be making a slide presentation of photographs that appear in A Century of Swindon on Friday 3 November, 7.30pm, in the Christ Church with St Mary's Church Hall on Devizes Road. Tickets at the door cost £2 and include refreshments. On 8 November the Swindon Society holds its regular monthly meeting at the Broadgreen Centre, Salisbury Street, when David Bedford will be talking and showing slides of Swindon Postcards. Later in November the society releases a new video 'Swindon Remembered' which gives a moving picture of the places and people that have formed the town. Win a copy of A Century of Swindon The new book will make an excellent Christmas present and it is available from WHSmith who have provided the books for our competition. All you have to do is tell us why you would like to win a copy. The two most interesting answers will be awarded the prize.
