Big cash bonanza from Breakthrough breast cancer breakfast
Bras were big news at a breakfast held at Brook Field School on 20 October to raise over £2,700 for Breakthrough breast cancer. GWRfm reported the event live and completely reorganised their morning show for an on air auction. Ex-Brook Field pupil Billie Piper sent a bra which raised £300, and Melinda Messenger's raised £200. Black Thunder reporter Hannah Hunter whipped hers off and raised £140. whilst newsreader Debb Evans was bid £50. Organised by Eunice Salmon from Nine Elms with help from fourteen volunteers, cooking, serving and clearing up, over 100 breakfasts were enjoyed. Last year she raised £555 in her home. So she was delighted to achieve such an impressive total. "It is really fantastic that we've had so much support for the event from stars like Billie and Melinda, from GWR and other businesses, all the volunteers who helped out and the people who came for breakfast. The money goes towards helping tackle a disease that strikes down so many women." She wanted to thank all the businesses who helped make the day a success including Sandridge Farm for supplying Wiltshire bacon and sausages, Purton House Organics Doves Farm, Sainsburys at Bridge-mead, Marks & Spencer, Iceland, Whittards, Hilton Hotel, DeVere Hotel, Playtex and Swindon Contractors, as well as Brook Field School. |
