A home for ratty
A unique environmental wildlife haven was recently unveiled next to the Rushy Platt housing development, off Wootton Bassett Road. Bordered by the recently cleared out canal and the old railway line cyclepath, the site is unusual in that observers can see wildlife, birds and insect from above, and are able to note the changing colours of the vegetation throught the seasons. Known before West Swindon was built as First Field, because it was the first bit of countryside outside the town, the preserved refuge is now home to kingfishers, snipe and warblers. |
