Book of Hreod memories nearly ready

A group of year 10 pupils at Swindon's Hreod Parkway School are eagerly awaiting the return of the annual year book from the printers in Canada.

The annual project first started in 1987 by former deputy head-teacher Tony Bareham and has become a tradition at Hreod. The 64 page, black and white year book with hardback cover printed with the school name and logo is a record of school life during the year. Apart from an introducation by headteacher Andrew Fleet, most of the year book content is photographs of special events, trips, concerts, tutor and year groups and general school activities.

Teacher Candida Gee oversees the project with a team of youngsters who select the pictures, crop them for the printers, decide on the layout and write captions. She expects that all 275 copies at £12.50 each, will be sold. "The majority of the year 11 students buy them and collect autographs in the cover. It has become a tradition that pupils and staff look out for, I can guarantee we will sell out."

Students who helped on this year's book are really pleased with the final product. Hannah Gilbert said, "I really enjoyed seeing the pictures, it's great to hold up and say we did this." Liz Dowdell agreed, "it's been great fun; the book will have lovely memories."
