New school logo revealed
Abbey Mead's second primary school - Catherine Wayte School on Elstree Way - is now only four months away from welcoming its first pupils and headteacher Gaye Ching has officially taken up her post. A deputy head plus two teachers have been appointed and a uniform of navy blue sweatshirt/cardigan, white polo shirt and grey or black trousers/skirts has been agreed. A bright logo depicts a country scene synonymous with the surrounding farmland with oak trees in the foreground symbolising knowledge and strength. Catherine Wayte was the daughter of a local farmer and founded the first school in Haydon Wick over 200 years ago. Building works are due to be completed in July and parents who have applied for their child to start at the school in September should have heard if they have a place. Mrs Ching will be available to meet parents at a drop-in session on Wednesday 10 May from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, at the Haydon Wick Parish council offices, next to the Haydon Centre. For further information contact Mrs Ching via Swindon Council's education department at Sandford Street, Swindon. Tel: 463902. |
