Sarah's sad end
The tragic story of Sarah Winrow, 18, was told on 21 October when a joint-inquest heard that she had been strangled last December by her partner Mark Hinton, 28, at their home in Pinehurst. Hinton then threw himself under a train on the railway line between Sparcells and Moredon. He was described as jealous and possessive, and was depressed at the thought of losing his daughter when he discovered that Sarah was interested in another man. A note in his handwriting found next to her body said: "Sorry, I lost my mind at the thought of losing Sarah." The former Hreod Parkway student was a lively and talented member of the Haydon Players amateur dramatic group. She is pictured in one of their productions in 1994 A verdict that Mark committed suicide and Sarah was unlawfully killed was recorded by the coroner. |
