Girls create school magazine
Two youngsters at Freshbrook School are helping communication amongst pupils by producing a school magazine. The idea was brought to the school by ten year old Rachel Callan, who moved to Swindon a year ago from London. She teamed up with Cheryl O'Connor and they were encouraged by their class teacher Emma Howarth and headteacher Robert Pattenden. "We planned the magazine last term and it took us most of the summer holidays thinking up articles, jokes and competitions," said Rachel. "I took some pictures and Cheryl scanned them into the computer." The two girls produced 90 copies at the beginning of term which quickly sold out. A halloween edition was produced at the end of October and they are planning a Christmas number, with tips on presents to give friends and family and how to make your own low cost decorations. "It's been hard work with just the two of us," said Cheryl. "People have said nice things about the first magazine, but we need one or two more helpers." |
