Joy for Julia

South Swindon MP, Julia Drown will be spending the next couple of months away from Westminster to spend time with her new baby.

Julia and her partner Bill Child recently announced the birth of their second child.

The baby, named Harvey Dexter, was born on 26 October and weighed 6lb, 8oz.

Julia described the birth as miraculous. She said, "the bit I remember most of the birth is there's a whole new person in the world". Bill, a philosophy lecturer at Oxford University, will be taking paternity leave in January so that Julia can pick up her Parliamentary routine.

He said, "it's a privilege to be a dad and share in Harvey's life. He'll be learning from us, but we'll be learning from him. It's a challenge for all three of us".

The couple's first child, Ruby, died soon after birth and Julia described this pregnancy as an anxious time. "We were, again supported by some really wonderful NHS maternity staff. We'd like to thank them for all they have done for us and our baby son."

Bill and Julia have plans to marry in the near future.
