First Swindon Jazz Festival: Wednesday 26 April - Sunday 30 April

Swindon will boogie over four days in late April when twenty bands and solo artists are booked to appear in Swindon's first ever jazz festival.

Deferred from last year for lack of sponsorship, the Musician's Union have stepped in to get the event up and running.

Hard working organiser Ray Butt, who has been busily promoting jazz concerts at the County Ground Winners Lounge and the Goddard Hotel in Old Town, says the time is right for the first festival. "We've built up tremendous interest in jazz music; it's going to be great to have so many artists in one place at the same time."

Headlining the four days will be the Pete Allen Jazz Band and the Roger Marks Armada Jazz Band. Also appearing are the Rod Kelly Trio, Fretless & Friends, Jazz Jiants and Frampton Feetwarmers.

A weekend stroller ticket to give admission to all sessions will cost only £20, but these will be limited. To secure yours send a cheque and SAE to 'The Music House Project,' 33 Chestnut Springs, Lydiard Millicent, Swindon SN5 9NA.
