Council commits to get you fit

A new super high tech fitness centre has opened at the Link Centre offering the best equipment available in Swindon.

Costing £250,000, the new Active Lifestyle Centre is the first in the country to be kitted out with the advanced 'Silverline' cardiovascular equipment by Techno-gym, the same company that supplies top football clubs such Manchester United, Liverpool and the England squad training facilities.

The ALC is fully air conditioned and offers 60 individual exercise stations, plus cardiovascular and resistance equipment, changing rooms, lockers and showers. There is also a treatment room where users can receive physiotherapy, reflexology and aromatherapy massage.

Centre manager Alan Richards said Swindon Council believes in offering the highest quality facilities. "The investment shows a real commitment to enhance the quality of life of Swindon residents, whilst offering the best value for money. We now have the most advanced equipment in Swindon, surpassing any other gym in the town. "You don't have to pay an up front membership fee. It costs just £3.50 for an exercise session."

He also said the leisure services cross training passports offer huge savings. They permit unlimited use of all facilities, including swimming pools, from £250 a year.

Now there's no excuse to get fit in time for the 21st Century. To make a visit to the new ALC or book an induction, call the Link Centre on 445566.
