A ribbon cutting ceremony for Swindon's newest performing arts academy will be held on Saturday 6 April at Steam.
There has been a small academy at the historic venue since September 2023 with teacher Nicki Rochford, who has been working with around 20 young people aged 12 to 20 on Saturdays.
On Saturday this group will officially turn into Thomford Academy, with Nicki as Principal, Laura Howell as Assistant Principal, Dee Thompson as Business Manager and Paula-Jane de Boer as the dance teacher.
A spokesperson said: "We are taking our students, aged 12 to 17, to His Majesty's Theatre (home to The Phantom of the Opera) in July to perform in the West End.
"In September we will be having a massive open day - we will be opening the academy to all ages from three to 18."
There will be classes in Acting, Musical Theatre and Casting, and more staff are set to join, including Beth McInally, who will be teaching the Thomford Tinies, a special performing arts class for ages 3-5.
