Running to spread harmony
Participants from around the planet called into Swindon at the end of March on The World Harmony Run from Bristol to Oxford.
The run is a global relay founded by Sri Chinmoy that seeks to promote international friendship and understanding through sport. As a symbol of harmony, runners carry a flaming torch, passing it from hand to hand travelling through over 100 nations around the globe. The World Harmony Run does not seek to raise money or highlight any political cause, but simply strives to create goodwill among peoples of all nations.
In Swindon they visited several schools including King William Street and South Marston primaries, after spending the night at the De Vere Hotel at Shaw Ridge.
Hotel manager Andrew Spinks, pictured with the runners on their arrival at the DeVere, said he had received a request to provide rooms for the runners and he was pleased to assist.
