Area panels give people an outlet
for viewpoints

Swindon residents are being given the chance to help shape council services when the six area panels begin meeting in July and August.

Set up as part of the new council decision making structure, the panels covering different parts of the town give people the opportunity to raise issues and to be consulted on proposals affecting their neighbourhoods. Whilst they do not have executive powers, each panel will be made up of ward members and will also have non-voting representatives from the community and from organisations working in partnership with the council.

Council officers will attend panel meetings to respond to issues raised and give information on service developments. People who want issues included on future agendas should raise them with local councillors.

The first meetings take place at the Civic Offices, but from September they will be held in local venues.

They meet on the following Thursdays at 7pm:

September
7 West, Link Centre
14 North Central, Oasis

October
5 South East, Broadgreen Centre
12 South, Commonweal School (to be confirmed)
18 East, Coleview Community Centre
19 Northern, Catherine Wayte School, Abbey Meads
