NHS chiefs are reminding people in vulnerable groups that they are entitled to a Spring covid booster jab.
All those aged 75 or over, irrespective of the general state of their health, are entitled to the vaccination, as are residents in care homes for older adults.
In addition, all immunosuppressed people aged six months and over qualify for the jab.
NHS bosses say the service will contact everybody whose medical records suggest they are entitled for a booster, and more information can be found here.
In a message to those with weakened immune systems, the NHS said: "At your vaccination appointment, we’ll need to confirm you still have a weakened immune system before you can have your covid-19 vaccination."
To confirm the health condition or treatment which causes your weakened immune system, it will helpful if people are able to do one of:
- Bring a repeat prescription or medicine box
- Bring an NHS letter confirming the condition
- Show a health record or any prescription had in the NHS app
If a person's health status has changed and they no longer have a weakened immune system, they do not need to have the spring vaccine.
